Job Description
Hi there! We’re looking for a Game Designer with significant experience shipping games professionally, who is self-directed and excellent at collaborating across disciplines. We consider this a senior role due to the emphasis on understanding priorities at the project level and aligning the efforts of the concept and design teams.
Get Set Games is working on a project with Gearbox Publishing for leading consoles and PC that breaks new ground and we’ll need a Game Designer with a breadth of knowledge designing mechanics for video games.
You will be designing core components for an action combat game, including boss battles, puzzle, and platforming mechanics and enemy behavior. You will be coordinating with other designers, animators and developers to deliver a unified vision for the game and an exciting and deep experience for the player. You’ll be a key contributor to our team, and we’ll always support your continued growth.

The Most Important Parts of Your Job
Professional experience: You need to be familiar with every phase of getting a game out the door, working with a team from prototype to release. Your team is counting on the fact that you’ve done this before, with skill and commitment.
Self-directed: If your queue is empty you won’t wait for someone to tell you what to work on. You drive your own efforts to learn and grow.
Collaborating across disciplines: You’ll be helping designers, animators and developers do their job more effectively. You’ll be collecting requirements, and solving problems based on feedback from each team. The importance of great communication can’t be overstated.
The Game Design Domain
You will be working on the moment-to-moment gameplay experience for the player, as well as the overarching mechanics for the game. You will tie the core gameplay together with the metagame to create an exciting experience for the player from end to end, and develop methods to bridge gameplay with narrative naturally and seamlessly. You will be designing memorable and dynamic character mechanics and enemy behavior as well as devising interesting environmental challenges for the player to overcome. We operate in the UE4 environment and we will be delivering on multiple hardware platforms. Knowledge of Blueprints will be a bonus.
