Job Description

Hi there! We’re looking for a Senior Environment Concept Artist with significant experience shipping games professionally, who is self-directed and excellent at collaborating across disciplines. We consider this a senior role due to the emphasis on understanding priorities at the project level and aligning the efforts of the art, design and cinematics teams.

Get Set Games is working on a project with Gearbox Publishing for leading consoles and PC that breaks new ground and we’ll need a Senior Environment Concept Artist with a breadth of knowledge working in the games industry.

You’ll be working on game-wide look-development for environments, architecture and cinematic elements of the game. You will be creating concepts for major gameplay areas across a wide variety of thematic zones in the game, and you will work with the cinematics team on environmental considerations for narrative sequences. You will also be coordinating with others on the concept art and level design teams to deliver a unified vision for the game. You’ll be a key contributor to our team, and we’ll always support your continued growth.

People at Get Set Games

The foundations of the company were laid almost a decade ago, which is an eternity in the games industry. We attribute our longevity to humility and mutual respect amongst team members. Folks here balance work and life and we solve problems proactively.

Aligning with our values is a prerequisite for becoming a great addition here.

We Value Artistry – The goal of our art and technology is to deliver excellence, originality, and beauty to our players.

We Value People – Diversity and inclusivity promote innovation and strength. At Get Set Games we believe you should be your authentic, brilliant self, and we view our players as people, not demographics.

We Value Good Health – Our environment and workplace practices promote emotional and physical wellbeing.

We Value Personal Improvement – Our team members are encouraged to learn, improve, and take and give feedback as adults.

The Most Important Parts of Your Job

Professional experience: You need to be familiar with every phase of getting a game out the door, working with a team from prototype to release. Your team is counting on the fact that you’ve done this before, with skill and commitment.

Self-directed: If your queue is empty you won’t wait for someone to tell you what to work on. You drive your own efforts to learn and grow.

Collaborating across disciplines: You’ll be helping modelers, game designers, level designers, and the cinematics team do their job more effectively. You’ll be collecting requirements, making revisions and helping to guide the stylistic direction of the environmental design for the game. The importance of great communication can’t be overstated.

The Environmental Concept Art Domain

You will be creating environment concepts for both gameplay and cinematics, working with modeling requirements in mind and contributing to overall look development. A strong understanding of light, color and surface response will be expected. The ability to create clear and understandable renderings and coordinate the work of other concept artists is a prerequisite.
