Job Description
Hi there! We’re looking for a Senior Level Designer with significant experience shipping games professionally, who is self-directed and excellent at collaborating across disciplines. We consider this a senior role due to the emphasis on understanding priorities at the project level and aligning the efforts of teams of artists, designers, and programmers.
Get Set Games is working on a project with Gearbox Publishing for leading consoles and PC that breaks new ground and we’ll need a Senior Level Designer with a breadth of knowledge working within the UE4 environment.
You’ll be helping the team conceptualize and create amazing environments and levels for combat, exploration and narrative sequences. You will also be prototyping look-development and scripting action sequences for gameplay and cinematics. We want to deliver a flawless and immersive experience for players, so you will oversee and develop plans for testing and optimization that allow the team to refine and iterate on the environments over the course of the project. You’ll be a key contributor to our team, and we’ll always support your continued growth.
People at Get Set Games
The foundations of the company were laid almost a decade ago, which is an eternity in the games industry. We attribute our longevity to humility and mutual respect amongst team members. Folks here balance work and life and we solve problems proactively.
Values
Aligning with our values is a prerequisite for becoming a great addition here.
We Value Artistry – The goal of our design and production process is to deliver excellence, originality, and beauty to our players.
We Value People – Diversity and inclusivity promote innovation and strength. At Get Set Games we believe you should be your authentic, brilliant self, and we view our players as people, not demographics.
We Value Good Health – Our environment and workplace practices promote emotional and physical wellbeing.
We Value Personal Improvement – Our team members are encouraged to learn, improve, and take and give feedback as adults.
The Most Important Parts of Your Job
Professional experience: You need to be familiar with every phase of getting a game out the door, working with a team from prototype to release. Your team is counting on the fact that you’ve done this before, with skill and commitment.
Self-directed: If your queue is empty you won’t wait for someone to tell you what to work on. You drive your own efforts to learn and grow.
Collaborating across disciplines: You’ll be helping programmers, artists and designers do their job more effectively. You’ll be collecting requirements, and fixing problems. The importance of great communication can’t be overstated.
The Level Design Domain
We operate in the UE4 environment and we will be delivering on multiple hardware platforms.
We will use Blueprints for scripting and dynamic assets, and will use automated testing and custom level creation tools to assist with the level design process. Strong lighting and aesthetic design experience will be valuable. Experience with procedural level design philosophy and techniques will be a bonus.
